It’s super fun to plant dahlias from seed. I planted from seed last season for the first time, and we got some really wild ones and also some really incredible drop dead beauties, which i saved the tubers from. Yes, dahlias grown from seed WILL produce a normal-amount of tubers in its first season. So if you grow one you love, you can keep it and multiply it and share it with friends.
